The Story

Page 1 of the book, hits you with a wake up call. This little book is filled with anecdotes, like how Jasmine finally met and was recognised by Oprah Winfrey (squeal!!), how Sheryl Sandberg ( former COO of Facebook) coped with loss and lots of Jasmine’s personal stories about seizing the moment when she had a chance to.

Jasmine’s advice is to Be Prepared, Fully Engage, Seek Authentic Connections, Allow for Flexibility and Embrace Change.

She says Forgive, Free and Release Yourself from the Past, Focus on the One You are With, Allow Yourself to Be, Live for Yourself , Allow Yourself to Dream, Make Peace with Uncertainty , Walk in the Spirit of Abundance, Practice Gratitude, Have Courage and Be a Blessing to Someone Else.

Chapter 15 of the book focuses on words and using words carefully. She urges us all to ” Use Your Words Carefully, Your Words Have Power” .

What I thought

The author comes across as inspirational, without being “preachy” and self elevating.

I like that Jasmine included stories of herself and her friends , as well as some “known” names. It gives the book a levelling feel, almost like saying “we are all in this together”.

A good book to pick up for a “boost” when you are feeling low.

Golden Nuggets:

Page 1: “You get in life what you have the courage to ask for”

Page 23: Connection is the energy that is created between people when they feel seen, heard and valued- when they can give and receive without judgement. – Brene Brown

Page 107: “You can change your world by changing your words. Remember , death and life are in the power of the tongue”- Joel Osteen

Golden Nugget rating (out of 5)

Bag: Moreau macramé and leather bucket bag

My husband calls this my fishing basket bag!! Ha! Ha! Coveted for its understated elegance, Los Angeles-based label Staud expertly combines streamlined silhouettes with an ethical design ethos.

Marrying vintage-inspired macramé netting with smooth leather, the Moreau bucket bag showcases a sleek unadorned profile.  Staud Moreau macramé leather bucket bag has been handcrafted with leather, features a macramé netting, two top handles, open top, suede leather lining, and will complete any summer or vacation in a sunny tropical location ( think Maldives or Seychelles). This attention grabbing bag is light and fits quite a lot. Be aware that there is no closure, so all the contents of your bag are somewhat exposed to prying eyes. The Staud comes in so many beautiful, candy colours!! The worst thing about this bag is agonising about the right colour to pick up or you can just cave in and buy them all.
